It never gets crazy messy - but I've been known to have a basket or two of clean clothes sitting in my bedroom floor for a few days. I do tend to always put dirty clothes away. My bed only gets made for pictures and company or rare "I just feel like it!" days. I am not a super neat freak - but I'm typically five-ten minutes away from the house being "company ready".Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416478929643863722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8913587525785298444.post-35343683093857354012009-02-18T13:58:00.000-06:002009-02-18T13:58:00.000-06:00I just started reading your blog today and I'm...I just started reading your blog today and I'm hooked! You're awesome! I have a similar question to Kimberly's, though. Your bedroom looks so organized. How is that possible? Do you naturally put your clothes away in the right place as soon as you take them off or out of the closet? Or do you just spruce up the place before you take pictures? =)Emilynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8913587525785298444.post-40316026483839142452009-02-12T20:56:00.000-06:002009-02-12T20:56:00.000-06:00lurkery...is that a word??? I hate cleaning as well, so the timer thing might be a good idea for me :DKoreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13169767757479816137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8913587525785298444.post-27148628477918294152009-02-07T10:59:00.000-06:002009-02-07T10:59:00.000-06:00Great cleaning tips. :)I so wish I could have you ...Great cleaning tips. :)

I so wish I could have you over to give me some pointers on my decorating! I'm so challenged in that department. It doesn't help that I'm scared to do much in the way of hanging/etc since we're just renting this place.Hippie Housewifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14718357472343295031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8913587525785298444.post-81663433843388493982009-02-07T10:45:00.000-06:002009-02-07T10:45:00.000-06:00Kimberly - I'm glad you posted your comment he...Kimberly - I'm glad you posted your comment here as I don't get e-mails on feed comments unless I remember to track it!

I find that what helps me the most is to set a timer for however long and just tidy/clean until the timer goes off. I will do this for anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes. It's AMAZING how much you can get done in 5 minutes. You can unload/load the dishwasher, move laundry, wipe down sinks and mirrors in the bathroom, tidy the living room, or any number of things. If you're needing to do something a bit more intense - obviously set if for longer than five minutes.

Eliminating part of the need to clean is also helpful of course. Clean spills immediately. Put dishes straight into the dishwasher rather than in the sink.

And - as far as "things" that get left laying aorund - I have some central locations for where I store things coming in the door and such. Typically a basket - that way I can contain the clutter and when i have time to sort it and put it where it goes I don't have to search all over the house for it.

Now I'll go copy this to LJ in case you don't see it here ;-)Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416478929643863722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8913587525785298444.post-52739531766255719172009-02-07T10:38:00.000-06:002009-02-07T10:38:00.000-06:00Copied from LiveJournal (dunno how the feed handle...Copied from LiveJournal (dunno how the feed handles that):

I have a question. :)

To me, I hear 'domestic' and think 'clean house'.
