Note for Bakers

Yesterday I made banana bread. Yum! (America's Test Kitchen wins again with their recipe. You all really should buy their cookbooks. Maybe I'll do a give-away again. That would be a good pre-holiday cooking giveaway. Hmmm..watch for one!) I didn't have an loaf pans but did have a tube cake pan. My google-search for how to convert cooking time didn't turn up much - so here's my public service announcement for bakers everywhere.

A recipe that makes one loaf converted to a tube cake pan.

Double the recipe, increase cooking time by 1.5 (If it's directed to cook for an hour - cook for an hour and a half)

Please note these results are not scientific and your recipe could be different - but - there's a starting point!

  1. Good to know!

And yes, I want their cookbook. I put it on my wedding registry but I didn't receive it, and haven't gotten around to purchasing it for myself.

I usually make the banana bread in "The Joy of Cooking" and that's pretty popular, too.

  2. mmmm banana bread!

You have such great things to say about that cookbook, I really need to check it out :)

  3. I really need to buy some of these cookbooks you all keep mentioning. I'm usually goggling for recipes every time I want to fix something new.

  4. to those considering purchasing the cookbook check out ebay or half.com for a better than reg retail price (and maybe you already know that)

  5. I have a great banana bread recipe. I'll have to email it to you and see how it compares to yours.
